PMLD Teacher

A PMLD Teacher is required at an inclusive Secondary School in Dagenham.

The school itself is a well run inclusive Special School for students aged 2-19. Every pupil at the school is treated as an individual and specific programmes are developed to meet their needs, therefore a holistic approach is provided to learning through the expertise of a qualified multi-disciplinary staff team.

The class sizes are small due to the nature of the impairments and the maximum capacity is 8 children in each class. There is excellent-in class support provided by experienced high-level Teaching Assistants which helps to support the ratio of adults to pupils in the school.

The role requires you to be a confident teacher and experience working with PMLD/SLD or ASD children would be beneficial but is not essential. You will be required to plan the lessons, write reports and proactively participate in the general running of the school. You must be vigilant with regards to pupils well being but most importantly it is essential that you are able to think ‘outside of the box’ and employ a creative attitude to teaching every child.

Despite the role being within the secondary section of the school, a Primary trained PMLD Teacher would be suitable as the students tend to work at a lower level than KS4.

The pay rate for this position will be £120-£150 depending on experience.

The school is offering excellent, ongoing training for the successful candidate and it is a great opportunity to build experience and confidence in this field of education.
