SEN Teaching Assistant with Autism, EBD and challenging behaviour experience needed for a Special School in Harrow.
This is a permanent role to begin in January. Our client school is a 50 place special school for primary aged children with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties and Autism.They also cater for children with more complex needs such as Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Aspergers and Speech and Language Difficulties.The school aims to provide a safe, supportive and caring environment in which all children can reach their full potential.The schools 2009 OFSTED stated” a very special school for special children”
Main purpose of the job:
- To work under the direction/guidance of the class teacher to support pupil(s) with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to access the curriculum in the most effective way, appropriate to their needs and understanding.
- To assist in the delivery and provision of needs outlined in statements of SEN.
- To provide general support to the class teacher in the management and organisation of the pupils and the classroom.
- To assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment.
- To promote the inclusion of all pupils.
- Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area with individual pupils or small groups as appropriate.
Please note the following requirements prior to applying for this position:
- Proven experience supporting students with SEN.
- You must have good spoken and written English;
- Be eligible to work in the UK
- This position is subject to an Enhanced CRB Disclosure and overseas police checks (if applicable)
