A progressive special needs school in East London, close to Redbridge tube station on the Central Line, requires a resilient and motivated SEN Teacher to work in a challenging KS2 /ASD class.
The ideal candidate will possess a good working knowledge of either PECS or Makaton, and have an informed understanding of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and the provision needed within the classroom. The class sizes are approximately 8 pupils with 2-3 highly experienced LSA’s supporting the teacher. A Primary trained teacher would be preferable due to the age and P-levels of the learners.
The school, which has been awarded ‘Outstanding ‘ status through OFSTED, has over 220 pupils aged 3-19 with diverse learning difficulties. A wide range of special educational needs are reflected in the school population, serving pupils with ASD, PMLD and other Moderate Learning Difficulties. The school has excellent provisions for all pupils, including a hydrotherapy pool and an advanced sensory room.
With all pupils, the school has a strong commitment and prides itself on working in partnership and contributing to the development of their skills and knowledge.
The successful candidate will be at the forefront of this development and play a pivotal part in both the pupils and the school’s future.
