An exciting opportunity has arisen for a temporary Early Years specialist to join a friendly nursery team at an independent boarding & day school. The successful applicant will manage boys and girls from the age of 3 – 6 years of age. The post requires someone to work part-time for three mornings a week during the summer Term 2010 (Tuesday 20 April – Friday 9 July). The Early Years Assistants all share responsibility for the Early Years pupils during school term time (7.30 am – 6.30 pm, Mondays to Fridays, usually 35 weeks a year). The new temporary post holder will need to be qualified to Level 2 and will work within the Early Years team and under the direction of the Head of Early Years.

Responsibilities include:

• assisting the Head of Early Years with long-term planning
• assisting with the planning and implementation of pupils’ daily programmes
• liaising with the Head of Early Years and making a brief written report in the Daily Record book to ensure continuity throughout the day and from day to day
• with the Head of Early Years, planning weekly themes
• monitoring and evaluating the curriculum, with particular reference to the criteria of the Oxfordshire Early Years Programme, and being responsible for a group of pupils in relation to the Key Person System
• assisting with planning and implementing the Early Years before-school and after-school care programme
• keeping written observations and assessments as needed
• liaising with colleagues and pupils’ parents and their representatives
• attending staff meetings
• observing the School’s health and safety policy
