Children’s Services Manager
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced children’s service manager or a nursery manager who has experience of running a nursery with before and after school club services.
You will be responsible for all the Sure Start Children’s Centre activities including responsibility for the Receptionist/Admin Worker, Outreach Worker and a number of part time session play workers.
You will be responsible for the management of all bookings at the Centre and develop strategies to further develop play and learning opportunities for under 5’s, as well as for older children predominantly in the hours directly after school, in collaboration with other service agencies at the Centre and in the surrounding community.
You will be based in a Youth Centre which has gained designation as the Sure Start Children Centre and runs a number of activities including:
- Toddlers, Messy Play,
- under1s Stay and Play,
- Buggy Walks,
- Childminders Stay and learn
- soft play and Bounce.
You will have a strong ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with local schools, Social Services, Health, and Job Centre Plus, Leisure departments and other appropriate agencies, including national child-care agencies as necessary.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- To manage the day to day running of the Integrated Sure Start Children’s Centre, and Community lettings.
- To be responsible for developing, with partner organisations, an annual delivery plan for the Sure Start Children’s Centre and to lead the implementation of the plan.
- To line manage those staff directly employed at the Sure Start Children’s Centre. The Centre administrator, Outreach worker, and session playworkers, house keeper and maintenance
- To develop and carry out a robust evaluation of all programmes and regularly evaluate the work of all the Sure start Children’s Centre activities and the impact on the lives of the local community parents and children. Ensuring that parents and children are key partners in the development and strategic management of all Children’s Centre services and activities, communicating and consulting effectively with them as appropriate.
- To work with the Head Of Children’s Services and Operations Manager to ensure that maintenance and security of the centre, all administrative activities including bookings and lettings are carried out efficiently.
- To identify, establish and manage new pieces of work that would be of interest to children, young people and families living in the geographical area of the Centre’s concern, predominantly in the hours directly after school.
- To work in partnership with Surrey County Council, Reigate and Banstead Council and other agencies to extend services and improve quality of provision for local children young people and families.
