Deputy Nursery Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Deputy Nursery Manager to join a friendly day nursery in North West London.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Nursery Manager. As part of the management team you will be responsible for the management of the nursery in the manager’s absence. In addition you will be accountable for a variety of management tasks whilst still being primarily room based.

  • You should have proven experience as part of the management team
  • You should first and foremost be a role model practitioner with the ability to demonstrate working knowledge of Ofsted and EYFS
  • You should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to support and lead others
  • Assist the Nursery Manager with their responsibility for the safety, security and well being of the children at all times
  • In the absence of the Nursery Manager undertake overall responsibility for the Nursery
  • The position is offered as full-time, working 40 hours per week

Responsibilities:

Overall management responsibility for the Day Nursery in the absence of the Manager

Assist the Manager in providing effective day to day management of the Nursery

Assist the Manager in collection, accounting, and banking of monies and distribution of wages

Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members

Attend monthly staff meetings and training sessions outside working hours

Identify the physical, emotional, intellectual and developmental needs of children with special needs and offer support and relevant developmental opportunities

To assist the Manager in promoting Equal Opportunities throughout the Day Nursery

You should hold an NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification with previous experience of working within a day Nursery at a senior level setting. Candidates must have a good knowledge of Birth to Three matters and the Foundation Stage Framework. Applicants with knowledge of the new EYFS are desired.
