To manage the day to day running of the Integrated Sure Start Children’s Centre, and Community lettings.
To be responsible for developing, with partner organisations, an annual delivery plan for the Sure Start Children’s Centre and to lead the implementation of the plan.
To line manage those staff directly employed at the Sure Start Children’s Centre. The Centre administrator, Outreach worker, and session playworkers, house keeper and maintenance
To develop and carry out a robust evaluation of all programmes and regularly evaluate the work of all the Sure start Children’s Centre activities and the impact on the lives of the local community parents and children. Ensuring that parents and children are key partners in the development and strategic management of all Children’s Centre services and activities, communicating and consulting effectively with them as appropriate.
To work with the Head Of Children’s Services and Operations Manager to ensure that maintenance and security of the centre, all administrative activities including bookings and lettings are carried out efficiently.
Ensure safer recruitment, development and management of suitable teams of voluntary and paid staff for each area of work and to carry out regular staff appraisals, supervision and one to ones,
To identify staff training needs and to plan suitable training programmes to ensure staff development and enhanced quality of provision.
To provide regular written reports to the Head of Children’s Services as required on the progress of all activities at the Centre.
To monitor and evaluate the Children’s Centre services through collection of statistical data (using e start) and regular consultation with children, young people and parents and to use this information to improve the provision on offer.
To work with appropriate staff to develop a suitable programme for all activities that fulfils the highest standards of provision and care as well as reflecting the CLIENT’s Aims and Purposes and enabling all children equality of opportunity.
To take on the role of Child Protection Officer for the Centre and to work with the Head of Children’s Services and Operations Manager to ensure appropriate policies and procedures to safeguard children are in place and are adhered to.
To work with the Head of Children’s Services, CLIENT England and other agencies to regularly review and where necessary update policies and procedures for the management of all services at the Centre to reflect new legislation and good practice guidelines.
To undertake such other tasks as may be allocated from time to time by the Head of Children’s Services.
You will directly manage a Part Time Receptionist/Administrator and Outreach worker/activity coordinator, 2 activity leaders. Existing services that you will be responsible for include all Children’s Centre activities and Children’s parties. The centre operates Monday to Sunday.
While part of the CLIENT senior staff team and reporting regularly to the Head of Children’s Services you will have discretion to act within the agreed budget guidelines and to make decisions on a day-to-day basis on the areas of your responsibility. Longer-term decisions and major changes will be made on agreement with the Head of Children’s Services.
You will be expected to develop regular meetings with their own staff. The post-holder will report to the Head of Children’ Services each week and on a quarterly basis will present a written monthly report to the Director for the Programme Committee. The post-holder will be expected to take part in CLIENT regional, national and international events as appropriate, particularly those relating to work with children and young people, and will participate in the CLIENT staff development programme.
Our work with children also takes place CLIENT’s purpose-built Sports and Community centre in Redhill. This centre has been open for 15 years and is situated about a mile from the centre of the town of Redhill, which is just south of the M25. Redhill lies on the A23, the old main route from London to Brighton, and grew up around the railway station. Because of its excellent transport links, it hosts a number of major companies and small industries. It has a good shopping area and considerable residential housing. There are several estates of houses close by the centre, from whence many of our members come. The Association’s geographical area of concern includes the whole of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead, with Redhill, Reigate, Banstead and Horley as the main population centres, but extends also as far as Dorking in the West, Crawley in the South and East Grinstead in the East. The area has a total population of some 150,000 people. Because of the nature of our operation, the post-holder will be expected to work throughout the school holidays.
