Teaching Assistants needed for jobs in the South Durham / Peterlee area!

We are currently seeking three teaching assistants to work within a Primary School in the Peterlee area of Durham. All three posts will be full time for the duration of the summer term.

Working within the school nursery, reception or lower key stage two you will be a competent teaching assistant who can make a positive contribution to the pupils learning.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Take an active role in the teaching and learning activities planned by the teacher.
• Take responsibility for a group of children engaged in a particular task.
• Monitor and record the progress of the children.
• Ensure safe movement of SEN pupils around the school.
• Prepare teaching materials for use in class.
• Prepare and mount children’s work in class and around the school.
• Leave all working areas clean and tidy after use.
• Take part in school based in-service training and specialised training where appropriate.
• Contribute to the wider aspect of school life where appropriate.
• To work as a teaching assistant within other year groups when required.

Essential Skills:

• NNEB / CACHE / NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Current First Aid Certificate (nursery post only).
• Current Food Hygiene Certificate (nursery post only).
• Evidence of working with pupils in the Foundation Stage or KS2.
• Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children with SEN.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Ability to use your initiative.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
